The Senior Registered Nurse/ ARM Nurse Coordinator will:
  • Develop oversight, strategies, and technical assistance support for the effective statewide management of aspiration risks among people who receive Home and Community Based Waiver Services (HCBS);
  • Develop and implement consistent policies, provide education and clinical expertise, and support quality improvement initiatives aimed at reducing aspiration-related incidents;
  • Coordinate efforts across regional offices, provider agencies, and multidisciplinary teams;
  • Safeguard the health and well-being of people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD);
  • Promote compliance with regulatory standards;
  • Enhance the overall quality of care delivered throughout the state.

How does it get done?
The Senior Registered Nurse/ ARM Nurse Coordinator is responsible for:
  • Leading and overseeing the statewide ARM initiatives for the Developmental Disabilities Supports Division (DDSD):
  • Policy development;
  • Technical assistance;
  • Compliance;
  • Education;
  • Training development and facilitation;
  • Resource development and quality improvement activities related to aspiration risk;
  • Participating in mortality reviews, health and wellness visits, and collaborating across multidisciplinary teams to enhance health outcomes for individuals served.

  • People receiving services within Home and Community Based Waiver Services (HCBS) waivers;
  • Provider agency staff;
  • Therapists and case managers;
  • Developmental Disabilities Supports Division (DDSD) employees.

Ideal Candidate
The Ideal Candidate has:
  • Experience working with adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities as well as high medical needs;
  • Obtained licensure as a Registered Nurse or greater clinical license;
  • Three to Five (3-5) years of experience;
  • Experience in case management, disease management, home health care nursing, hospital nursing and long-term care facilities;
  • Organizational skills and is a resourceful self-starter;
  • Ability to work with teams;
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.

Minimum Qualification
Must possess a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in New Mexico, or eligibility for such licensure in accordance with New Mexico requirements, or eligibility for a temporary license issued for employment at a specific institution in New Mexico and three (3) years of experience as it pertains to the essential duties and responsibilities of the classification.
Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License.
Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive a Defensive Driving Course Certificate as a condition of continued employment within 45 days of employment.
Successful completion of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
Working Conditions
Office setting with extensive use of personal computer, telephone, fax, copier and other related office equipment that involves sitting, standing, bending, reaching, etc. to include lifting up to 30 pounds.
Travel may be required with some occasional overnight stays.
