Job description

Telemetry Unit Registered Nurse

Hospital: HCA Centerpoint Medical Center

Location: Independence, Missouri

Address: 19600 E. 39th Street

Unit Specifics:

  • Number of Beds: 36
  • Patient Ratios: 1:3 AM, 1:4 PM or 1:4 AM, 1:5 PM (with patient care techs)
  • Unit staffing description- (unit secretaries and tech availability): Typically, total RN based care with no techs. Secretaries are scheduled 7am-7pm in the PCU and are available for a number of resources.
  • Type of equipment: BiPAP, Heated High-Flow Nasal Cannulas, Alaris IV pumps, Kangaroo Feeding Pumps
  • Documentation system: Meditech
  • Scheduling requirements: FT Staff: 36 hours/week with every 3rd weekend rotation, PT staff: 48 hours/week with every 3rd weekend rotation, PRN 1 Staff: 3 shifts in a 4-week period with 1 weekend shift requirement, PRN 2 Staff: 6 shifts in a 4-week period with 3 weekend shift requirements. Rotating holiday schedule.
  • Floating policy: PRN floats 1 time per week, FT/PT staff floats in a rotation based upon dates, bonus shifts always float first
  • Patient Experience requirements: Bedside shift report, hourly rounding, and daily leadership rounds.

Hospital Specifics:

  • Certifications: Level 2 trauma center, Stroke Accreditation, STEMI Accreditation, Certified Bariatric Center

Hiring profile:

  • Must have: REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS: BLS, ACLS
  • Advanced assessment and critical thinking skills
  • Management of vasoactive drips

List typical procedures performed on unit(s):

  • Central Line or PICC line placement

Floating Area(s): MedSurg Units

Dress Code:

  • Charcoal grey scrub tops with charcoal grey or black scrub bottoms.
  • Black or charcoal grey jackets, with the option to order unit specific jackets.
