What are HCA Behavioral Health professionals?

HCA Behavioral Health professionals are healthcare workers who specialize in providing mental health and behavioral support services within hospitals or clinics operated by HCA Healthcare. They work with patients experiencing issues such as depression, anxiety, substance abuse, or other behavioral health conditions. Their roles often include assessment, therapy, crisis intervention, and coordinating care with other medical providers. These professionals may include counselors, therapists, social workers, and psychiatric nurses, all focused on improving the mental well-being of their patients.

What are some common challenges faced by HCA Behavioral Health professionals, and how can they best prepare to overcome them?

HCA Behavioral Health professionals often encounter challenges such as managing high caseloads, dealing with emotionally intense situations, and supporting patients with complex mental health needs. To overcome these, it's important to develop strong communication and time-management skills, engage in ongoing training, and utilize available support resources such as supervision and peer collaboration. Building resilience through self-care and maintaining clear boundaries also help prevent burnout and ensure the best possible care for patients.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an HCA Behavioral Health professional, and why are they important?

To thrive as an HCA Behavioral Health professional, you typically need a background in psychology, social work, or a related field, along with relevant certifications or licensure depending on the state. Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems, crisis intervention techniques, and behavioral assessment tools is often required. Compassion, strong communication, and the ability to remain calm under pressure are essential soft skills for building rapport with patients and supporting their recovery. These competencies are vital to ensure patient safety, effective treatment planning, and a supportive therapeutic environment.

Job description

Join Our Impactful Team at Health Connect America!

Health Connect America and our family of brands are leading providers of mental and behavioral health services for children, families, and adults across a multi-state footprint. As a COA-accredited organization, we are held to nationally recognized standards of quality, accountability, and best practice in every aspect of care we deliver.

We are relentlessly committed to keeping families together and transforming lives through evidence-informed care, delivered by clinically trained staff who meet clients where they are — in their homes, in their communities, and in our offices. Our work is guided by five core values: client-centered care, empowerment of our people, evidence-informed excellence, a purpose-driven culture, and bold, adaptive leadership.

When you join Health Connect America, you join an organization that invests in you. You'll Grow With Us through meaningful development opportunities, Be Well With Us through programs that support your whole self, and know that You Belong With Us in a culture built on purpose, compassion, and impact.

Our Brands

As a School-Based Behavioral Health Therapist with Health Connect America, you'll be embedded in schools to support the emotional, behavioral, and social well-being of children and adolescents — meeting them where they are and walking alongside them across school, home, and community. You'll partner with students, families, educators, and primary care providers to address mental health concerns, build resilience, and help them thrive at school and beyond.

Behavioral health doesn't pause when school lets out — and neither do we. This is a year-round role, so when summer comes, your students still have you.

What You'll Do

  • Conduct biopsychosocial assessments and build individualized, person-centered treatment plans with students, families, and school teams
  • Provide individual, group, and family therapy in school and outpatient settings, using evidence-based approaches for anxiety, depression, trauma, and behavioral concerns
  • Coordinate whole-person care — partnering with PCPs, monitoring medication needs and HEDIS gaps, verifying enrollment, and linking families to community resources
  • Act as the key liaison between schools, families, HCA programs (including Med Management), and external providers
  • Step in during crises with grounded clinical judgment and thoughtful safety planning
  • Maintain clinical documentation that meets state, Medicaid, HIPAA, and COA standards
  • Build relationships with schools and community partners to grow program reach and referrals
  • Stay sharp through ongoing supervision, training, and professional development

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, or related behavioral health field required.
  • Must be eligible for licensure as an LPC, LMFT, or LCSW in the state of TN.
  • Experience working with children, adolescents, and families preferred.
  • Experience providing services in school-based or community-based settings preferred.

Be Well with HCA:

  • We recognize the importance of self-care and work/life balance.
  • We offer flexibility in scheduling and provide all employees access to our Employee Assistance Program (EAP), which includes 8 mental health counseling sessions annually.
  • Full-time HCA employees enjoy paid time off, paid holidays, and a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, and other voluntary insurance products.
  • Additional benefits include:
  • Access to a Health Navigator
  • Health Savings Account with company contribution
  • Dependent Daycare Flexible Spending Account
  • 401(k) Retirement Plan
  • Benefits Hub
  • Tickets at Work

Join a team where your contributions truly make a difference in the lives of others. Apply now to be part of our dynamic and supportive community at Health Connect America!

Employment at Health Connect America and it's companies is contingent upon meeting the requirements of a comprehensive background investigation prior to joining our team.
