What are Hbf?

"Hbf" is an abbreviation for the German term "Hauptbahnhof," which translates to "main train station" in English. It is not a job title, but rather refers to the central railway station in a German city, where most long-distance and regional trains arrive and depart. Hauptbahnhöfe are key transportation hubs, often featuring numerous amenities and connections to other forms of public transit. In job postings or descriptions, if you see "Hbf," it typically refers to the location of a job near or at the main train station rather than a specific occupation.

What are some common challenges faced by employees working at HBF, and how can they be addressed?

Employees at HBF, particularly in customer service and claims roles, often encounter challenges such as managing high call volumes, navigating complex health insurance policies, and maintaining empathy during stressful situations. To address these challenges, HBF provides comprehensive training, fosters a supportive team environment, and encourages open communication between staff and management. Team members are also supported with ongoing professional development opportunities and access to resources that promote work-life balance, ensuring that they can deliver excellent service while managing workplace demands effectively.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Hauptbahnhof (Hbf) station manager, and why are they important?

To excel as a Hauptbahnhof (main train station) manager, you typically need strong organizational skills, experience in operations management, and relevant qualifications in transportation or logistics. Familiarity with station management software, safety regulations, and ticketing systems is crucial. Outstanding problem-solving, leadership, and customer service skills help you manage staff and resolve passenger issues efficiently. These competencies are vital to ensure smooth station operations, passenger safety, and a positive public transport experience.

Job description

At HBF, we believe extraordinary spaces begin with extraordinary design.

For nearly 40 years, HBF has earned a reputation as one of the most respected names in premium commercial furnishings. Our products are found in some of the world's most distinctive workplaces, hospitality destinations, healthcare environments, and public spaces, where timeless craftsmanship, thoughtful innovation, and authentic design come together to create meaningful experiences.

As part of HNI Corporation, HBF operates with the agility and creative spirit of a design-focused, open-line brand while leveraging the strength and resources of a global organization.

We are seeking a dynamic Senior Manager, Product Marketing to shape the future of our portfolio and lead the strategic development of products that elevate the environments where people work, gather, heal, and connect.

This role is ideal for a product leader who thrives at the intersection of business strategy, design excellence, customer insight, and market innovation.

What You'll Do

As the Head of Product for HBF and HBF Textiles, you will define and execute the long-term vision for HBF's product portfolio while championing the brand's legacy of craftsmanship and design leadership.

You will lead a high-performing team responsible for identifying emerging trends, discovering unmet customer needs, manage the lifecycle of the portfolios, and bring compelling solutions to market that strengthen HBF's premium position.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Establish and lead the strategic product roadmap across HBF and HBF Textile's portfolios.
  • Identify emerging opportunities within workplace, hospitality, healthcare, and public space markets.
  • Partner closely with Design, Engineering, Manufacturing, Sales, Marketing, and Finance teams to bring innovative products to life.
  • Translate customer insights, specification trends, and market intelligence into actionable product strategies.
  • Develop business cases and investment strategies for new product introductions.
  • Manage the full product lifecycle, from concept development through launch and portfolio optimization.
  • Champion product storytelling and value propositions that reinforce HBF's premium brand positioning.
  • Guide portfolio decisions that drive growth, profitability, and market differentiation.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and customer-centered thinking.

What Makes This Opportunity Different

This is not simply a product management role.

This is an opportunity to influence one of the most respected design brands in the commercial interiors industry

You'll help define what comes next for a brand known for:

  • Design authenticity
  • Craftsmanship and quality
  • Collaborations with leading designers
  • Thoughtfully curated collections
  • Premium customer experiences
  • Enduring products that stand the test of time

Your work will directly influence the spaces where people experience some of life's most important moments, from executive boardrooms and luxury hospitality settings to healthcare environments and public gathering places.

What We're Looking For

We're interested in accomplished product leaders who have successfully built and managed premium products and brands.  Ideal candidates will have experience in commercial interiors and design.  Experience with premium consumer brands is highly desired.

Leaders from luxury, premium lifestyle, architecture, interior design, hospitality, or consumer product organizations who understand how exceptional products create meaningful brand experiences are also encouraged to apply.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA preferred.
  • At least 7 years of progressive product management leadership experience is required; 10 years of experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated success developing product strategy and roadmaps.
  • Strong commercial acumen and portfolio management expertise.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and influencing senior leaders.
  • Passion for design, innovation, and customer experience.
  • Exceptional strategic thinking and communication skills.
