Company Description Bethune-Cookman University is a private, historically Black university (HBCU) located in Daytona Beach, FL, serving more than 3,600 students in undergraduate and graduate programs. Founded in 1904 by Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune, the university is a member of the UNCF and has a longstanding commitment to academic excellence, leadership, and community engagement. Academic offerings span multiple schools, including Arts and Humanities, Business, Education, Nursing, Social Sciences, Science, Engineering and Mathematics, and Graduate and Professional Studies. The School of Nursing provides rigorous, student-centered programs that prepare future nursing professionals to serve diverse communities and advance health equity.

Role Description The Adjunct Instructor, Nursing is a part-time, on-site teaching role based in Daytona Beach, FL. This position is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in assigned nursing courses, following established curricula and learning outcomes. Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing lesson plans, teaching classroom and/or clinical sessions, assessing student performance, grading assignments and exams, and providing timely feedback. The instructor will hold office hours as appropriate, support student success and professional development, and maintain accurate academic records. Additional duties include collaborating with nursing faculty and staff, adhering to program and accreditation standards, and participating in relevant meetings or trainings as needed.

Qualifications

  • Graduate degree in Nursing (MSN or higher) from an accredited institution; current, unencumbered RN license, preferably in the state of Florida.
  • Demonstrated clinical experience in nursing practice and familiarity with evidence-based care across diverse patient populations.
  • Experience teaching in higher education or nursing education settings, with skill in facilitating learning for adult and traditional students.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and mentoring abilities, including the capacity to support learners from varied backgrounds.
  • Proficiency in using learning management systems and basic instructional technologies to deliver and assess coursework.
  • Ability to design and implement clear, outcomes-based lesson plans and assessments aligned with program standards.
  • Commitment to inclusive, student-centered pedagogy and support for the mission and values of an HBCU.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and clinical partners, and to manage responsibilities within a part-time schedule.
