Summary

Be the organizational hub that keeps hatchery operations running smoothly. As a Hatchery Clerk, you will provide essential administrative support that helps coordinate daily hatchery activities, from managing calls and maintaining documentation to handling data entry, inventory tracking, and accounts payable support. You will play an important role in preparing chick delivery schedules, maintaining reports and communications, and supporting overall office operations. This role is ideal for detail oriented, organized professionals who enjoy supporting a fast paced environment and contributing to the success of daily hatchery operations.

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm

Principal Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Answer telephones in a professional manner and take/relay messages for the Hatchery Manager and Assistant Manager.
  • Daily entry of accurate egg set, chick hatch, and chick placement data into mainframe computer applications.
  • Dissemination of daily chick delivery schedules and processing stack-off plans.
  • Timely payment of invoices and efficient management of office filing system, including invoices and sensitive personnel data.
  • Proper management of supply inventory and ordering.
  • Adhere to all safety requirements including the wear of proper clothing and preventing and reporting unsafe acts and conditions.

 

Minimum Education and Experience

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Strong reading, writing, communication, analytical, and math skills.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Business classes and/or schooling in office administration and computers.

 

Physical Requirements and Environmental Factors

  • Working in a normal office environment which includes, but not limited to, moving and sitting in an upright position and working on wet, moist, and dry floors which include concrete, metal and plastic grating surfaces up to 4 hours in a single interval.
  • Exposure to temperature ranges of <75 degrees to 100 degrees Fahrenheit with both ambient and 100% humidity.
  • Exposure to chick down, vaccines, disinfectants and other chemicals used in hatchery management.
  • Bending, twisting, lifting, reaching, sitting and grasping varies in repetitions, distances, degrees, angles, weights, height, intervals of time, objects grasped and body positions depending upon the task being performed.
  • Normal exposure to chemicals listed in plant MSDS.
