Job description

New Horizon Co-op is hiring a Part-Time Hardware Team Member in Falher, Alberta. This position will work approximately 20-25 hours per week.

What you'll do:


  • Deliver exceptional customer service by providing information, assistance, and a positive experience to all customers
  • Assess customer needs and provide knowledgeable advice on store products
  • Process payments for customers' transactions
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness throughout the day of displays, aisles, and storage areas
  • Assist with inventory counts and audits as needed
  • Support the merchandising of store products by building creative visual displays and ensuring proper product labelling
  • Assist customers with carrying out items
  • Accurately process fuel and merchandise sales through the point-of-sale system, ensuring proper cash handling and transaction procedures
  • Receive, unpack, and display merchandise; assist with routine price changes, promotional updates, and product restocking as needed
  • Ensure the Hardware Store is ready for business at opening and properly secured at closing. Lock up displays such as merchandisers
  • Perform additional duties as required

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Responsible and reliable
  • Previous experience in a retail or hardware store setting is preferred

  • Physically able to perform tasks that involve standing for extended periods and lifting up to 50 lbs
  • Able to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Basic math and cash handling skills
