Job description

Description:

The Field Application Engineer is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing equipment or systems at customer sites or company facilities. This role requires technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality customer service. Through significant travel, this position will ensure that the equipment provided is always maintained and in top working order.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • May spend the majority of their working hours outside of the office traveling from location to location, including cross-country. 
  • Install, troubleshoot, and repair equipment or systems according to specifications and safety standards.
  • Perform routine maintenance and inspections of equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Diagnose technical issues and determine appropriate solutions.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to customers.
  • Maintain accurate records of service calls, repairs, and parts used.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with customers and team members to ensure satisfaction.
  • Provide production support in assembly and routine testing of the products used in field applications.
  • Assist the Product Division and Sales Department by solving field problems, clarifying customer requirements and technical product support.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Requirements:

Qualifications

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering is required; BSME, BSIE, or BSEE is required.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in field service, maintenance, or equipment installation is required. Hydraulic systems experience is preferred.
  • Familiarity and experience with hand and power tools is required.
  • A minimum of two (2) years’ experience with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) is required.
  • Knowledge of fluid power is preferred.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.

Skills and Abilities

  • Experience as a Field Application Engineer or in a similar technical role is preferred.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with mechanical and electrical systems is required.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitudes are required.
  • Strong problem-solving skills are required.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively is required.
  • Familiarity with hydraulic filtration systems and fluid power components is preferred.
  • Experience using diagnostic tools and software is preferred.

Certificates and Licenses

  • A valid driver’s license is required.
  • A valid passport is preferred.
  • Certified Fluid Power – Hydraulic Specialist certification is preferred. A willingness to obtain certification is required.

Other Requirements

  • Traveling (including driving) is required. Overnight travel of 2-3 nights per week is frequent.
