What You Will Do

The Hot Section Engineering (HSE) design mission is to develop the best turbine designs in the world. We are committed to changing the way to design, produce and sustain the next generation of turbine engines through innovation, process improvement and technology development. We continue to develop a world class aerospace engineering organization that is second to none, prioritizing talent development and a culture of excellence.

  • Designs major components or major portions of functional systems, technically advanced prototypes, and specific products using computer design and engineering systems.
  • Investigates pertinent design factors such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials and equipment, interchangeability, replaceability, strength-weight efficiency, and contractual specifications requirements and cost.
  • Provides analytical support through all design phase, production manufacturing and field support services.
  • Supports engineering changes that lead to new hardware design, testing and production.
  • Supports investigations of engine field incidents leading to root cause and corrective actions.
  • Supports in the develop of serviceable and repairable limits for engine part wear.
  • Supports producibility improvement investigations at various vendors.
  • Performs engineering first piece reviews remotely and at vendor locations.
  • Assists in creation of safety risk analysis and develop risk mitigation plans.
  • Presents and communicates results to customers and program management.
  • Analysis and disposition of quality non-conformances (QNs) for new parts, and supplier requests for information (SRI's).
  • Participates as an active member in cross-discipline integrated product teams to provide design solutions that balance performance, cost, schedule, and quality requirements.
  • Develops and incorporates new ways to advance technology and improve processes as an individual and as a team contributor.
  • Attend and have participation in group meetings, teleconferences and/or training required.
  • Actively participate in initiatives for continuous improvement & support design community initiatives.
  • Based on business needs, the incumbent may be required to support other duties/functions within the company.
  • Travel is up to 10%.
  • English (read, write, speak) is required when communicating with customers, co-workers, or supervisors who only speak English.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher.

  • Requires theoretical knowledge typically obtained through University Degree.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.

  • Hot Section Engineering is responsible for the design, development, technology maturation and in service support of all diffuser cases, combustors, turbines (vanes, blades, rotors and cases), augmenters (military), nozzles and associated fuel systems for all military, commercial and industrial engine models and radial auxiliary power units.
