Job description

Summary:
The function of the Maintenance Department is to preserve and enhance EIHAB buildings, grounds, facilities, and equipment and to ensure that the physical environment is safe, free of any and all physical, chemical, or environmental hazard, in good order, and in compliance with all relevant regulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Maintain an awareness of health and safety issues at all times and takes immediate action when any discrepancies are found in these areas.
  2. Performs minor and/or major repairs and refurbishment to the physical plant, equipment, and grounds as assigned.
  3. Performs routine and/or complex preventative maintenance to buildings, equipment, vehicles and other household tasks as assigned.
  4. Participates in trainings as required.
  5. Cooperatively accepts assignments and directions from supervisor or team leader on needed repair, tools and equipment. Asks appropriate questions.
  6. Effectively completes the work as assigned or, if appropriate, refers the job to the team leader or supervisor. All work must comply with code requirements.
  7. Knowledgeable in the safe and appropriate use of hand and power tools.
  8. Demonstrates knowledge of how to isolate mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC systems.
  9. Cooperatively responds to off-hour emergencies to effect repairs or shut down equipment to ensure continuing operation of physical plant.
  10. Complies with all policies regulating safety and safe work practices.
  11. Performs all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or abilities required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Minimum of 18 years of age and acceptable Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Clearance. Acceptable Driver's License Abstract provided by PennDOT required, as well.
A medical examination to be completed prior to start date and renewal every two years thereafter.
