What is a hand model?

A hand model is a professional who uses their hands to display products for photography, commercials, or films. Their hands are often featured in advertisements for jewelry, cosmetics, hand creams, or other items that require close-up shots of hands. Hand models must maintain their hands in excellent condition and may work with agencies or directly with clients. The job often involves holding products, performing specific gestures, or demonstrating how to use items. Attention to detail, patience, and flexibility are important traits for success in this field.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a hand model?

To thrive as a Hand Model, you need well-groomed hands, symmetrical fingers, clear skin, and attention to personal care, often with experience in modeling or related fields. Familiarity with posing techniques, industry-standard photography, and sometimes agency representation are typical requirements. Patience, flexibility, and the ability to take direction well are important soft skills for this role. These skills ensure that hand models consistently meet client expectations for close-up product shots, commercials, and advertising campaigns.

What are some common challenges hand models face on the job?

Hand models often encounter challenges such as maintaining flawless skin and nail health, as even minor blemishes or imperfections can impact job opportunities. Consistency in hand care routines is crucial, and avoiding activities that could lead to cuts, bruises, or sun damage is part of the daily responsibility. Additionally, hand models must develop the ability to hold precise and sometimes uncomfortable poses for extended periods during shoots, requiring patience and stamina. Working closely with photographers, stylists, and art directors is also common, so strong communication and adaptability are essential for success.

The job requires well-maintained hands, specific skills, and often involves working on a flexible schedule. Demand can fluctuate based on market trends and the need for visual product representation.

To become a hand model, you should maintain well-groomed, smooth, and healthy hands, often with clear skin and neat nails. Building a portfolio with high-quality photos of your hands and reaching out to modeling agencies or casting directors specializing in hand or beauty modeling can help you find opportunities. Having good lighting, a clean environment, and understanding the industry standards can also improve your chances of success.

Job description

About the Role

We're looking for a mechanically inclined Service Technician to join our team. You'll repair, rebuild, and install air compressors and shop air systems for our customers.

You do not need prior air compressor experience. If you're comfortable taking things apart, figuring out how they work, and putting them back together correctly, we'll teach you the rest. Good candidates come from auto and diesel repair, small engine repair, HVAC, ag equipment, industrial maintenance, or hands-on trade backgrounds.

What You'll Do
General repairs - Diagnose and replace check valves, pressure switches, gauges, unloaders, belts, hoses, and other common wear components.
Pump rebuilds - Pull compressor pumps and replace internals (rings, valves, bearings, gaskets). This includes researching the pump model, locating manufacturer parts schematics and exploded views, and ordering the correct parts.
Piping systems - Install RapidAir MaxLine and FastPipe compressed air tubing systems in shops and small industrial facilities: layout, cutting, fitting, mounting, and leak testing.
Documentation - Keep clear records of work performed, parts used, and time on each job.

What We're Looking For (Required)

  • Solid general mechanical aptitude and hands-on repair experience
  • Comfort with hand tools, power tools, and basic diagnostic work
  • Resourcefulness - the ability to track down a manual, read a parts schematic, and identify the right part number without hand-holding
  • Attention to detail; the willingness to do it right the first time
  • Ability to lift 50lbs and work on your feet
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record
  • Reliable, professional, and presentable in front of customers

Nice to Have (Not Required)

  • Experience with reciprocating or rotary screw air compressors
  • Basic electrical knowledge (single- and three-phase wiring, motor starters)
  • Plumbing or pipefitting experience
  • Welding or fabrication skills
  • Forklift certification

Perks and Benefits

  • Employee product discounts
  • Weekly pay
  • PTO/Sick Leave
  • Competitive wages
