What is a hand model?

A hand model is a professional who uses their hands to display products for photography, commercials, or films. Their hands are often featured in advertisements for jewelry, cosmetics, hand creams, or other items that require close-up shots of hands. Hand models must maintain their hands in excellent condition and may work with agencies or directly with clients. The job often involves holding products, performing specific gestures, or demonstrating how to use items. Attention to detail, patience, and flexibility are important traits for success in this field.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a hand model?

To thrive as a Hand Model, you need well-groomed hands, symmetrical fingers, clear skin, and attention to personal care, often with experience in modeling or related fields. Familiarity with posing techniques, industry-standard photography, and sometimes agency representation are typical requirements. Patience, flexibility, and the ability to take direction well are important soft skills for this role. These skills ensure that hand models consistently meet client expectations for close-up product shots, commercials, and advertising campaigns.

What are some common challenges hand models face on the job?

Hand models often encounter challenges such as maintaining flawless skin and nail health, as even minor blemishes or imperfections can impact job opportunities. Consistency in hand care routines is crucial, and avoiding activities that could lead to cuts, bruises, or sun damage is part of the daily responsibility. Additionally, hand models must develop the ability to hold precise and sometimes uncomfortable poses for extended periods during shoots, requiring patience and stamina. Working closely with photographers, stylists, and art directors is also common, so strong communication and adaptability are essential for success.

About the Opportunity

A privately owned, rapidly growing commercial mechanical contractor (HVAC - plumbing and more) based in Nashville, TN is looking for an experienced Commercial Project Manager to join their team. This is a company on the rise - busy, collaborative, and looking for someone who can own projects from start to finish without needing a lot of hand-holding.

If you thrive on ownership, enjoy being the point person who keeps a project on track from budget to closeout, and want to be part of a tight-knit, high-performing team, this could be the right fit.

What You'll Do

As Commercial Project Manager, you'll own your projects end to end - managing everything from budgets and schedules to client relationships and subcontractor coordination. Day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Manage commercial mechanical construction projects from start to finish (usually 1 at a time)
  • Budget management and financial tracking
  • Project scheduling and schedule commitments
  • Client communication and project correspondence
  • Lead weekly ownership meetings
  • Coordinate subcontractors
  • Manage project documentation
  • Manage RFIs and submittal flow
  • Handle buyouts and closeouts
  • Coordinate the CAD/3D modeling process (managing workflow, not performing the modeling)
  • Manage project quality and completion
  • May supervise an Assistant Project Manager
  • Use Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, and Procore daily to manage documentation, budgets, and workflow

Work environment: This role is based out of the Nashville corporate office, with roughly 70-80% of time in the office handling PM responsibilities and 20-30% in the field, traveling to active job sites to attend meetings, check progress, and coordinate with field teams and clients. Projects are generally within about a two-hour radius of Nashville (including Cookeville, Dickson, and surrounding areas). No overnight travel required.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone with:

  • 3-5 years of commercial construction MECHANICAL project management experience
  • Bachelor's degree is strongly preferred, although not required
  • A collaborative mindset that fits our team-oriented culture
  • The ability to take ownership and run with it - minimal hand-holding needed
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • A track record of managing multiple project priorities at once
  • Experience with budget management, scheduling, client relations, RFIs, submittals, buyouts, closeouts, financial tracking, and project documentation
  • Familiarity with the commercial construction lifecycle and managing a CAD/BIM/3D modeling workflow

Compensation & Benefits

  • $90,000-$120,000 base salary, depending on experience + bonus potential
  • $500/month vehicle allowance, gas card and oil changes covered
  • Generous benefits package, PTO, 401K + company match.
