Job description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Administer routine medications to residents as ordered by physicians and delegated by a licensed nurse in compliance with Texas regulations.
  • Accurately document medication administration in the Medication Administration Record (MAR) and Treatment Administration Record (TAR).
  • Observe residents for adverse reactions, side effects, or changes in physical, emotional, or mental condition and immediately report concerns to the licensed nurse.
  • Ensure medications are administered using proper procedures, including the "rights" of medication administration (right resident, medication, dose, route, time, documentation, and reason).
  • Assist with medication pass in a timely, safe, and organized manner.
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and security of medication carts, medication rooms, and supplies.
  • Monitor medication inventory and notify nursing staff of low supplies, expired medications, or discrepancies.
  • Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) as needed, including grooming, hygiene, toileting, mobility assistance, and meal support.
  • Take and record vital signs as directed and report abnormalities to the licensed nurse.
  • Follow infection prevention and control procedures, including proper hand hygiene and PPE usage.
  • Maintain resident confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Respond promptly to resident call lights and assist in promoting resident comfort and dignity.
  • Communicate effectively with residents, families, nurses, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members.
  • Follow all facility safety procedures, emergency protocols, and abuse prevention guidelines.
  • Participate in required in-services, trainings, and staff meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by nursing leadership.
