Sales Manager - Hampton Inn Colchester, Vermont
Location: Colchester, VT
Department: Sales
Reports To: General Manager / Director of Sales
Status: Full-Time | Exempt
Position Summary
The Sales Manager is responsible for developing, maintaining, and growing business relationships to maximize revenue for the Hampton Inn Colchester. This role focuses on identifying new business opportunities, managing existing accounts, increasing market share, and ensuring guest satisfaction through proactive sales efforts and effective communication with operations teams.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Business Development
  • Proactively source, qualify, and secure new group, corporate, extended stay, and local negotiated business.
  • Manage assigned market segments (e.g., corporate transient, SMERF, government, sports, tour & travel).
  • Conduct outside sales calls, site tours, and presentations to prospective clients.
  • Respond to leads in a timely and professional manner.
  • Negotiate rates and contracts within brand and property guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate account and contact information in the sales system.
Account Management & Client Relations
  • Build long-term relationships with key accounts and community partners.
  • Maintain regular communication with existing clients to ensure repeat business.
  • Handle client inquiries, resolve issues, and ensure exceptional service delivery.
  • Represent the hotel at networking events, trade shows, and community functions.
Revenue & Reporting
  • Assist in creating and executing the hotel sales and marketing plan.
  • Work closely with revenue management to optimize rates and demand.
  • Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and business performance.
  • Prepare weekly sales activity, production reports, and revenue projections.
  • Meet or exceed sales revenue and production goals.
Collaboration & Brand Standards
  • Partner with the front office and operations team to ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Maintain compliance with Hilton/Hampton brand standards and corporate policies.
  • Uphold the company's values, culture, and guest service expectations.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Required:
    • Minimum 2-3 years hotel sales experience or strong hospitality background with sales exposure.
    • Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
    • Proven ability to build relationships and close business.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with hotel sales systems (e.g., Delphi, SalesPro, Opera) preferred.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Valid driver's license for local travel.
  • Preferred:
    • Hilton/Hampton brand experience.
    • Knowledge of the Colchester/Burlington VT market.
    • Experience working with SMERF and corporate segments.
