Job description

Hammond Power Solutions Inc. is a global manufacturer headquartered in Guelph, Ontario, Canada. HPS has grown to become the leader in North America in the custom design and manufacture of dry type transformers. For the past century, HPS has grown to deliver electrical power solutions to global markets and provides solutions for complex applications like mining, rectifier, drives, traction, wind, solar and many other electrical power applications. The world relies on HPS to continually conceive and produce state-of-the-art transformer technology. We currently have an opening for an Accountant - Intermediate, come grow with us! This position is located in North Huntingdon, PA at Mesta Electronics!
Reporting to the US Accounting Manager, this position plays a key role in delivering accurate and timely financial reporting in alignment with IFRS and HPS guidelines. This position supports month-end and year-end processes, ensures strong internal controls, and contributes to financial insights that drive business decisions.
Key Responsibilities
  • Support day-to-day accounting operations and analyses.
  • Prepare and record month-end journal entries and assist with close activities
  • Analyze financial results, including balance sheet and income statement variances
  • Prepare and distribute monthly financial reports, including variance and trend analysis
  • Assist with year-end audit and tax requirements in collaboration with external auditors
  • Maintain accurate financial records, including reconciliations and supporting documentation
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and corporate reporting standards
  • Contribute to budgeting and forecasting processes
  • Support ERP systems and participate in process improvements and system enhancements
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on financial reporting, inventory, and operational initiatives
  • Assist with capital project tracking, fixed assets, and related reporting

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles
  • Experience with accounting systems (e.g., D365, QuickBooks) and advanced Excel skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and integrity
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Analytical mindset with a focus on continuous improvement
