Job description

About Us
Action Against Hunger USA (ACF USA) is part of the Action Against Hunger International network, a global leader in the fight against hunger operating in over 50 countries with programs focused on nutrition, health, climate resilience, food security, and emergency response. We manage operations in Kenya, South Sudan, Somalia, Tanzania, Uganda, Ethiopia, Zambia, and Haiti, working alongside communities to address the root causes of hunger and strengthen resilience.
We are seeking a Leadership Gifts Associate to support donor engagement, stewardship, fundraising coordination, and major gifts operations within our External Relations team.
About the Role
The Leadership Gifts Associate will support Action Against Hunger's Development Team in raising more than $14 million annually from major private donors, board members, legacy society members, and donor prospects capable of making gifts of $10,000 or more.
Reporting to the Director of Development, this role will help coordinate donor engagement, draft donor-facing materials, support board and volunteer leadership activities, maintain donor records, and track key fundraising deliverables. This position is a strong opportunity for someone interested in developing a career in frontline fundraising and major gifts.
This role is ideal for a highly organized, relationship-driven, and strong writer who enjoys storytelling, donor engagement, project coordination, and working across teams in a mission-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
  • Draft donor stewardship materials, including emails, reports, donor updates, appeals, impact statements, and other donor-facing content.
  • Prepare donor and prospect briefings for external meetings and internal strategy discussions.
  • Conduct high-level research on new and existing donors using available research tools.
  • Support the development of donor-facing collateral, including concept notes, funding opportunities, presentations, and fundraising materials.
  • Support board and advisory council engagement, including fundraising coordination, meeting notes, PowerPoint presentations, scheduling, and quarterly reporting.
  • Maintain and update donor records in Salesforce and support data coordination with internal systems teams.
  • Track donor communications, solicitations, gift receipts, engagement calendars, and reporting deadlines.
  • Support donor and prospect events, including invitation lists, RSVP tracking, VIP support, event follow-up, and Salesforce updates.
  • Coordinate team meetings, agendas, schedules, and special projects as needed.

Who We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum 2 years of fundraising and/or customer service experience preferred.
  • Nonprofit experience preferred.
  • CRM, Raiser's Edge, and/or Salesforce experience preferred.
  • Strong writing, storytelling, and donor communication skills.
  • Strong relationship-building and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage competing deadlines.
  • Comfortable engaging with donors, board members, internal stakeholders, and volunteer leadership.
  • Ability to think quickly, remain calm under pressure, and follow through on time-sensitive priorities.

Why Join Us?
Join Action Against Hunger to support a growing Development team focused on building meaningful donor relationships and increasing private fundraising revenue in support of our global mission.
In this role, you will gain hands-on experience across major gifts, donor stewardship, board engagement, fundraising operations, and events while working closely with experienced fundraising leaders and mission-driven colleagues
