Apprentices gain practical experience in hair cutting, coloring, styling, and client service while working in a salon setting. This role often includes assisting senior stylists, maintaining salon cleanliness, and learning industry techniques. It provides a pathway to becoming a licensed hairstylist by combining on-the-job training with educational coursework.

What can I expect from the typical training and mentorship experience during a hair stylist apprenticeship?

As a Hair Stylist Apprentice, you'll work closely under the supervision of licensed stylists, observing and assisting with a variety of hair services such as cutting, coloring, and styling. Your daily activities will include shampooing clients, maintaining salon cleanliness, managing appointment schedules, and eventually performing basic hair services as your skills develop. Many apprenticeships include structured training sessions, regular feedback, and opportunities to practice new techniques on models or mannequins. This supportive environment helps you gradually build confidence and technical abilities, setting you up for success as you work toward professional licensure and future career advancement.
