Estimator Assistant
Full-Time | Entry-Level (Paid Training Provided) | Chattanooga, TN
Arcus Restoration is a growing, full-scale restoration and remediation company currently serving Middle and East Tennessee as well as North Alabama. We specialize in property restoration involving water, fire, smoke, or other property damage. We believe our core values set us apart from other restoration companies, and we're looking for people who want to embrace those values and grow with our team.
Position Summary
The Estimator Assistant supports our mitigation, restoration, and reconstruction projects by capturing accurate Matterport 3D property scans and performing roof inspections to document damage and condition. This role documents affected areas both inside the home and on the roof, gathers construction and material information, maintains accurate job records, and communicates findings to estimators and other internal stakeholders. No prior roofing or scanning experience is required — we'll teach you the trade if you bring attention to detail, a strong work ethic, and the drive to learn. Motivated team members can grow quickly into roles running projects, managing subcontractors, and overseeing field construction.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate Matterport scan scheduling in alignment with mitigation timelines, preferably after demolition has been completed.
- Prepare Matterport Capture app templates using the customer name and job number to ensure accurate project identification.
- Perform on-site property scans of affected areas and document required construction information using the approved scope sheet.
- Safely access and inspect roofs (via ladder and/or roof walk) to assess condition, materials, damage, and wear, including hail/wind damage, missing shingles, flashing issues, and general wear.
- Measure and record roof dimensions, pitch, and square footage as needed.
- Communicate professionally with property owners regarding the scan and inspection process, estimate-related information, insurance coverage considerations, and potential upgrade areas.
- Capture and upload required job photos, including front elevation, roof, and loss-related photos, in accordance with company documentation standards.
- Maintain accurate job records by entering inspection notes, uploading scope documentation, and tagging the appropriate internal team members.
- Verify whether required flooring or material samples have been collected and submitted; prepare forms, collection bags, and samples when necessary.
- Initiate scan uploads promptly upon returning to the office and notify the estimator when scans and inspection reports have been processed.
- Support the estimating process by assisting with schematic orders and following established estimating workflow procedures as applicable.
- Ensure all legal requirements, building and safety codes, safety inspections, and local/state regulations are met.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Willingness to learn roofing techniques, materials, and inspection procedures — no prior experience required.
- Ability to operate Matterport scanning equipment and related mobile applications (training provided).
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple job tasks and timelines efficiently.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Attention to detail when documenting affected areas, material samples, scope information, and job notes.
- Ability to build solid relationships with team members, vendors, and customers.
- Background in sales/customer service preferred but not required.
