Job Description
Job Title: Hadoop Administrator/ Engineer
Location: New York, NY
Position Type: Contract
Role:
• Manage several Hadoop clusters in development and production environments
• Monitoring and troubleshooting of hardware and software services
• Install new software releases, system upgrades, patches, and evaluation of stability
• Tuning of servers, applications and Hadoop infrastructure
• Work with users, engineering groups, and vendor support for troubleshooting
Qualifications:
• Strong UNIX/Linux knowledge including the ability to understand the interaction between applications, HW, and operating system and to provide recommendations and suggestions related to troubleshooting and performance improvement.
• Experience with the Cloudera Hadoop distribution
• Experience with Hive, MapReduce, YARN, Spark, Sentry, Oozie, Sqoop, Flume, HBase, Impala, etc.
• Experience troubleshooting applications and application code
• Experience with cluster maintenance tasks such as creation and removal of nodes, cluster monitoring and troubleshooting
• Strong experience in Unix Shell, Perl, and python scripting
