Job Title: CNC Machinist

Job Description

This role focuses on independently setting up, operating, and optimizing CNC machining centers to produce high-quality parts to precise specifications. You will interpret complex engineering drawings, perform detailed inspections, and troubleshoot machining issues while working in a fast-paced, collaborative machine shop environment. We are looking for someone with skills that is highly experience in CNC and Milling. This role will offer $32 - $42 an hour as a result. This is a first shift job Monday - Friday.

Responsibilities

  • Independently set up and operate CNC machining centers to produce precision components.
  • Make program edits at the machine and adjust offsets as needed to ensure part accuracy.
  • Optimize feeds, speeds, tooling, and cycle times to improve machining efficiency.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T to understand part requirements.
  • Perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections using precision measuring equipment.
  • Inspect parts to print and maintain tight tolerances throughout the production process.
  • Troubleshoot machining and quality issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Select appropriate tooling and workholding to support efficient and stable production.
  • Complete required production and quality documentation accurately and on time.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with shop standards.
  • Collaborate with team members to share best practices and support continuous improvement.
  • Work effectively with a variety of CNC machines, including equipment with Fanuc, Okuma, Haas, and Fadal controls, as needed.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum 3+ years of CNC machining experience, with 5+ years preferred.
  • Proven ability to perform complete machine setups independently.
  • Experience making program edits at the machine and adjusting tool and work offsets.
  • Strong understanding of feeds, speeds, tooling, and workholding principles.
  • Proficiency with precision measuring instruments including micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, indicators, and height gauges.
  • Ability to inspect parts to print and maintain close tolerances.
  • Strong blueprint reading skills and solid understanding of GD&T.
  • Hands-on experience operating CNC mills and machining parts in a production environment.
  • Ability to operate and adjust CNC equipment using Fanuc controls; experience with Okuma and Haas controls is highly relevant.
  • Self-motivated with strong troubleshooting abilities for both machining and quality issues.
  • Team-oriented mindset with a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced industrial machine shop environment.

  • Basic CNC programming skills are strongly preferred.
  • Experience with Fadal, Haas, Okuma, and Fanuc control systems.

Work Environment

This is a first-shift position with typical hours of either 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. or 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The role is based in an industrial machine shop environment that is clean, organized, and focused on safety, even though the equipment is not described as state-of-the-art. Many of the machines are custom-made, and the product mix is numerous and complex, offering significant learning opportunities. You will work with CNC machining centers and controls such as Fanuc, Haas, Okuma, and Fadal in a very fast-paced setting. The team is highly collaborative and team-oriented, with coworkers bringing diverse skill sets and supporting each other in daily operations. Dress expectations align with a typical industrial shop environment, prioritizing safety and practicality.

The pay range for this position is $49920.00 - $68640.00/yr.
