Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Recreational Gymnastics Instructor is responsible for the daily operation of the Gymnastics program. Daily functions include facilitation of non-team gymnastics classes.

In addition, every position in the YMCA of Coastal Georgia, Inc. is responsible for upholding the Judeo-Christian principles that are central to our mission by modeling behaviors that exemplify the four pillars of character - caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Responsible for planning and facilitating age appropriate group gymnastics classes
  2. Teaches specific gymnastic movements to class participants
  3. Maintains safe work environment and ensures the safety of all participants
  4. Attends required department and individual trainings
  5. Assist in the overall retention and satisfaction of YMCA members through appropriate customer service
  6. Assist in the Annual Campaign fundraising program for the YMCA
  7. Maintain a positive and cheerful attitude with staff, peers, and program participants
  8. Willingly perform other duties as assigned

An employee or volunteer's failure to cooperate with an investigation will result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment or dismissal from the organization.

QUALIFICATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS:

  1. Gymnastics certification or one to two years of gymnastics teaching preferred.
  2. Must be willing to obtain gymnastics certification within timeframe indicated by manager and maintain certificate during course of employment.
  3. Sound working knowledge of accepted fitness standards and practices including gymnastic techniques.
  4. Ability to foster positive staff, peers, and program participants.
  5. CPR and First Aid required within 30 days of employment.
  6. Must be able to pass a criminal background check and obtain authorization to work with children under the Georgia Department of Labor and YMCA guidelines.
