Job Description
The Racquet Sports Manager leads the overall operation and growth of the Sports Club's racquet sports department, with an emphasis on expanding and enhancing the pickleball program while overseeing and supporting the Club's tennis programming. This position provides leadership for racquet sports staff and is responsible for planning, developing, and coordinating lessons, clinics, leagues, tournaments, camps, and member engagement initiatives. Working closely with the Director of Sports & Wellness, the Racquet Sports Manager helps ensure a high-quality member experience and the continued success of the Club's racquet sports offerings.
 

Key Responsibilities
 

  • Provide exceptional member service and build strong relationships with members.
  • Maintain a regular on-site presence while working a 40-hour work week, including evenings, weekends, and club events as needed.
     
  • Ensure the tennis and pickleball facilities are clean, organized, safe, and professionally maintained at all times.
     
  • Assist with hiring, training, scheduling, and supervising racquet sports staff.
     
  • Teach private lessons, group lessons, clinics, and camps for pickleball while providing tennis instruction as needed.
     
  • Plan, organize, and execute tournaments, social events, leagues, camps, and other racquet programming.
  • Grow participation and retention through engaging programs and member outreach.
     
  • Build relationships with current and prospective racquet sports participants.
     
  • Manage court scheduling for lessons, clinics, leagues, tournaments, and member play.
     
  • Assist in managing the racquet sports operating budget.
     
  • Oversee the maintenance and preparation of the tennis and pickleball courts, and assist with sweeping, lining, dragging, watering, rolling, and court preparation as needed.
     
  • Conduct daily court inspections and coordinate maintenance needs.
     
  • Support the Sports Club by answering member questions, assisting with merchandise sales, and promoting club programs.
     
  • Work closely with the Director of Sports & Wellness to ensure the successful operation of the racquet sports department, including programming, member initiatives, and daily operations.
     
  • Attend department and club meetings and contribute to operational planning.
     
  • Promote safe work practices while maintaining dependable attendance and a professional demeanor.
     
  • Assist with merchandising, paddle and racquet demos.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
 

  • 1–2 years of experience in racquet sports, tennis, pickleball, recreation, or private club operations, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
     
  • Experience coordinating racquet sports programming, lessons, clinics, leagues, and events.
  • Experience supervising staff is preferred.

Other Qualifications
 

  • USPTA or PTR Professional certification, or the ability to obtain certification within an approved timeframe, is required.
     
  • Pickleball certification (IPTPA, PPR, or similar) is preferred.
     
  • Passion for tennis, pickleball, and delivering exceptional member experiences.
     
  • Strong hospitality and interpersonal skills with a member-first mindset.
     
  • Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills.
     
  • Demonstrates professionalism, initiative, and a strong work ethic.
     
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
     
  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of court maintenance and racquet sports instruction.
