What are gutter protection systems?

Gutter protection systems are products designed to prevent debris such as leaves, twigs, and dirt from clogging your home’s gutters. They typically come in the form of guards, screens, or covers that fit over or inside the gutter to allow water to flow through while blocking larger debris. This helps reduce the need for frequent gutter cleaning, prevents water damage to your home, and can extend the lifespan of your gutter system. Gutter protection is especially beneficial in areas with lots of trees or heavy rainfall.

What does a typical day look like for a gutter protection technician, and how much time is spent working independently versus with a team?

A typical day for a Gutter Protection Technician involves traveling to customers’ homes, inspecting existing gutter systems, installing gutter guards, and ensuring proper water flow. Much of the work—such as the actual installations and safety checks—is done alongside a small crew for efficiency and safety, especially when working at heights. However, technicians often spend parts of their day independently, performing assessments or preparing materials. Collaboration with team members and clear communication with customers are key to completing projects efficiently and ensuring client satisfaction.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a gutter protection specialist, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Gutter Protection Specialist, you need a solid understanding of roofing systems, gutter installation, and safety protocols, typically gained through hands-on experience or technical training. Familiarity with power tools, ladders, safety harnesses, and gutter protection products is essential, and OSHA safety certification is often preferred. Strong customer service skills, attention to detail, and physical stamina help set top performers apart in this role. These abilities ensure installations are safe, effective, and satisfy customer needs, which is critical for reputation and job safety.

GORILLA PROPERTY SERVICES Job Description- Operations Manager

Core Responsibilities: The Operations Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the business, with focus on turning quotes into scheduled, completed, and paid jobs. This role manages the workflow from the moment a lead becomes a customer through job completion and invoicing, and serves as a primary point of contact for customers and field crews. The ideal candidate is highly organized, comfortable moving between the office and the field, and able to keep multiple jobs, crews, and customers performing simultaneously while developing relationships and achieving performance standards of the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily operations and ensure jobs are completed on schedule, to quality standards, and within budget.
  • Schedule jobs and coordinate crews, equipment, and materials for efficient routing and daily throughput.
  • Prepare and deliver accurate quotes and estimates for prospective customers. Invoice customers promptly, track receivables, and follow up on outstanding payments.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for customers — answering questions, resolving issues, and ensuring a high standard of service.
  • Support sales and new customer acquisition — following up on leads, converting quotes into booked jobs, and identifying upsell and repeat-business opportunities.
  • Manage and support field crews, including day-to-day direction, quality control, and on-site problem solving.
  • Maintain job records, schedules, and customer information in company systems and software.
  • Monitor job costs, labor, and materials to protect margins and flag issues to the owner.
  • Support hiring, onboarding, and training of field staff as the business grows.
  • Ensure compliance with safety practices and franchise operating standards.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (minimum).
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a related or relevant field (e.g., operations, service/trades, scheduling, dispatch, or field management).

  • Comfortable using scheduling, invoicing, and general office software.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Preferred:

  • Customer-focused and calm under pressure.
  • Able to lead and motivate a team.
  • Problem-solver who takes ownership of outcomes.

Company Description

Gorilla Property Services is an exterior cleaning and maintenance company serving commercial, industrial, multifamily, and residential properties across the Morgantown, Fairmont, Clarksburg, Bridgeport WV and Uniontown PA regions. We're the "one call" that property and facility managers rely on to keep their buildings clean, safe, and protected — pressure washing, soft washing, window and gutter cleaning, graffiti removal, dryer vent cleaning, and holiday light installation, plus snow removal through the winter.

We're a locally owned and operated business backed by a national brand — the energy and ownership of a ground-floor team, with the systems, training, and support of an established company behind it. Our core cleaning season runs spring through fall; we extend the calendar into winter with snow removal and holiday light installation (temporary and permanent), so there's meaningful work across more of the year than a typical seasonal outfit — and a business built to grow.

We run on Gorilla Pro, our field-management platform, so scheduling, job tracking, photos, and customer updates are handled cleanly from the field instead of buried in paperwork. That lets our people focus on doing excellent work and taking care of customers.

We're building a team of people who take pride in their work, own their outcomes, and want to grow as the business grows. We're launching now, which means the people who help build this from the ground up are first in line for the leadership roles that come as we add territories.
