Job description

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Gunstock Mountain Resort in Gilford, NH is looking for a Certified Medical Professional to join our Ski Patrol management team, as a strong leader in the field. This position works closely with the Ski Patrol Manager to actively promote public and employee safety, incident prevention, risk management, and deliver exceptional service for winter and summer guests. Supervise and coordinate all aspects of daily operations for First Aid Stations to ensure the delivery of quality, empathetic, and professional care for injured/ill guests and employees. This position reports directly to the Ski Patrol Manager.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Effectively assist with all aspects of the Ski Patrol operation including pre-season setup and inspections (daily, monthly, & annual), daily opening and closing procedures, equipment inventory and maintenance, staffing, administrative duties; maintain accurate records of all inspection logs, amusement park ride file jackets, department operating manuals and training manuals, dispatch logs, and incident documentation.
  • Perform and oversee staff's incident response, patient evaluation and triage and provide appropriate first aid for injured guests and employees; provide transportation off the mountain and arrange for local EMS/Ambulance as needed; complete incident documentation within required timelines and in compliance with state/federal regulations and patient privacy laws.
  • Work with Department Manager and Training Coordinator to deliver pre-hire and in-service training and education for Patrollers with a focus on basic patrolling and rescue skills, ski and toboggan training, medical evaluation and treatment, and risk management protocol such as identifying and marking hazards, fencing, rope lines, and on mountain signage.
  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of the Gunstock Emergency Response Plan, with emphasis on Lift Evacuation and Zipline Rescue plans; assist with the coordination and execution of all emergency responses for summer and winter operations, including large-scale public events.
  • Responsible for adhering to skier safety programs, as well as skier safety education and enforcement of the Responsibility Code, Park Smart, and the Area's Reckless Skier Policy in accordance with NH RSA 225; assist with the development and promotion of mountain wide safety programs for members of the public, school outreach programs, and race teams.
  • Will occasionally perform other duties as assigned outside their normal work environment, as part of the mountain operations team.

SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES WILL HAVE:
  • High school diploma or general equivalency, plus a minimum of 3 years ski patrol experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.; must be 18 years of age or older
  • Candidate will obtain a National Registry EMT Basic License with CPR-BLS for the Healthcare Provider Certification within 90 days of hire, a NSP Outdoor Emergency Care Certification is also preferred.
  • Candidate will successfully complete a Qualified Climber Course within 90 days of hire.
  • Candidate must exhibit Advanced to Expert skiing/snowboarding skills with ability to safety transport guests via toboggan on all terrain in all weather conditions
  • Strong communication and supervisory skills; able to coach and evaluate performance.
  • Frequently required to move about the mountain and base area in emergency response situations; required to move people, equipment, tools, and materials weighing up to 25 lbs. regularly, up to 50 lbs. frequently, and up to 75 lbs. occasionally; additionally required to visually inspect, detect, and assess work areas, attractions, ski trails, lift lines, adventure courses, tools, equipment, and vehicles.
