Summary

Join Guidewire as a Software Engineer III, Application Platform - AI Services, and be part of the team building our next-generation AI platform. This platform provides the essential tools to design AI agents, to connect to large language models, and manage the knowledge bases that power modern, intelligent insurance applications. You will be an active contributor on this platform, using AI coding tools to build core services that power developer experience, ensuring quality, scalability, and security. This is an onsite, full-time role based in the United States.
You will contribute to delivering operational excellence and transformative innovation for Guidewire's Product Development & Operations (PDO) organization. Our priorities include accelerating AI, cloud, and data platform adoption, and ensuring our solutions deliver measurable value and efficiency for customers. At Guidewire, you'll contribute to a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and customer-centricity, helping transform the way the world's P&C insurers do business.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain features for Guidewire's application platform, primarily focusing on backend services but with flexibility to occasionally work with infrastructure and frontend.

  • Apply agentic coding tools as Guidewire uses them to dramatically accelerate development.

  • Write clean, well-tested code with attention to quality, scalability, availability, and security.

  • Collaborate with team members to deliver secure, scalable, and efficient platform operations, supporting Guidewire's mission of operational excellence and transformative innovation.

  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to team best practices.

  • At Guidewire, we foster a culture of curiosity, innovation, and responsible use of AI-empowering our teams to continuously leverage emerging technologies and data-driven insights to enhance productivity and outcomes.

Required Qualifications
  • 4-6 years of experience in backend software engineering, with experience building platform or web services.

  • Experience with coding agents and automation tools.

  • Proficiency in one of Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, with willingness to learn other languages.

  • Experience with Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), vector databases (vector DBs), AI agents, and Model Context Protocol (MCP).

  • Good collaboration and communication skills.

  • Exposure to Kubernetes and infrastructure as code.

  • Demonstrated ability to embrace AI and apply it to your role as well as use data-driven insights to drive innovation, productivity, and continuous improvement.

We are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this role. Candidates must be authorized to work without the need of employer sponsorship, either currently or in the future.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $132,000 - $228,000. Your base pay will depend on your experience, skills, education, training, and location among other factors. All full-time positions or part-time roles working 30 hours or more a week at Guidewire are eligible for benefits that support their health and well-being including health, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, and a company sponsored retirement plan. In addition, some roles may be eligible for the annual company bonus plan, commissions, and/or long term incentive awards which are contingent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, company and employee performance.
