General Description: Under supervision of Chief Law Enforcement Officer, provides and maintains campus security; patrols and safeguards campus property, buildings and grounds. (May be assigned to Merced or Los Banos Campus; Rotating Shifts Required) Examples of Duties Essential Functions: - Patrols campus buildings and grounds to prevent vandalism and theft - Installs parking dispenser tickets, collects and records money from dispensers - Issue citations for parking violations - Answers security alarm alerts and notifies appropriate personnel or agencies of any occurrence activity which is detrimental to the welfare of individuals or college property - Prepares written reports for non-criminal activities - Must be able to walk and be on feet at least five hours per shift - Other related duties as assigned Knowledge of: - Methods and techniques to improve security Ability to: - Analyze situations and exercise good judgment with a minimum of supervision - Prepare and maintain accurate and complete records and reports - Confront people on security matters without unnecessary alienation - Capacity to stand and walk for long periods of time in various types of weather - Promote and incorporate culturally affirming DEIA and anti-racist principles to nurture and create a respectful, inclusive, and equitable learning and work environment.
