Lead Host | Urban Grub

Compensation: $14.00/hr base + $8.00 to $12.00/hr in tips

Total Earning Potential: $22.00 to $26.00/hr

We need someone who can command the floor, orchestrate the flow of our dining room, and lead our hosting team by example. The Role: What You Will Do

As the Lead Host, you are the air traffic controller of the restaurant. You are not just seating guests; you are managing the rhythm of the entire evening.

  • Master the Book: Take full ownership of the OpenTable platform to maximize covers while maintaining a seamless flow for the kitchen and service staff.
  • Floor Leadership: Lead the host team. You will ensure all standards for greeting, seating, and phone etiquette are met.
  • Guest Relations: Handle VIP arrivals, special requests, and waitlist management with grace and professionalism.
  • Strategic Seating: Balance the dining room intelligently to ensure no server is overwhelmed and every guest feels prioritized.
  • Communication Hub: Act as the primary link between the kitchen, management, and the service floor.
Who You Are
  • OpenTable Expert: You have significant experience with OpenTable and understand how to manipulate a floor plan for efficiency.
  • Experienced Leader: You have previously held a Lead Host or Senior Front-of-House position in a high-volume, upscale-casual environment.
  • A Pro Under Pressure: You stay calm and upbeat when the lobby is full and the phones are ringing.
  • Detail-Oriented: You notice the small things, from a smudged front door to a guest who has been waiting two minutes too long.

What once was a little carwash on the corner of 12th and Gilmore is now a dominating presence in the 12 south District. They could see it but not many could, Jay Pennington from an operational standpoint where Billy Inman sees things from an esthetics point of view, working together things made sense. The design and concept evolved over the 13 months it took to take a little carwash to the multi-environment restaurant/bar/patio/beer garden that opened in April 2012. Urban Grub offers a feeling of coziness with its private cabanas and its many fire pits as well as the open air atmosphere in the beer garden with in-outdoor bar. All custom designs, there is something new and beautiful to be found around each corner.
