Job description

Job Title: Field Supervisor

Locations: Littleton and Woodsville, NH

Position: Seasonal Hourly non exempt

Reports to: Sr. Regional Manager or Regional Manager


Job Description

A Field Supervisor is primarily responsible for overseeing execution of all assigned Live Plant merchandising service responsibilities and sales activities. The field supervisor is responsible for up to 9 stores with an average of 2-4 employees per store depending on the location. One of the main goals of this position is to build stronger relationships with store personnel and merchandisers (TAP) providers. Ensuring live goods displays are merchandised according to store layout and the CVP process is utilized properly. The Field Supervisor provides leadership and support and ensures that employees of responsibility adhere to company policy, including store hours and proper utilization of Apps.


General Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develops successful working partnerships by interacting professionally and maintaining effective communication with diverse groups, including store leadership teams, associates and GMS Merchandising personnel.
  • Train and assist store management and co-workers in sharing plant knowledge and maintenance, i.e. proper watering techniques, culling, and waste. (best practices)
  • Minimize markdowns and shrink by assisting Store with the CVP process. Onboard new hires, familiarize them with Apps required to use, practice area reports and proper photography of displays.
  • Travel within designated territory to ensure stores are set to store layout, displayed merchandise is condensed, salable and signed properly.
  • Maintain proper culling and inventory levels to ensure accurate on-hand counts.
  • Communicate daily with direct manager and follow up on all requests from management in a timely manner.
  • Understand, follow and ensure team adheres to all Grower Merchandising SOPโ€™s and policies.
  • Unloading racks and pallets. Managing inventory levels and maintenance of the live goods for GMS customers (Vendors).
  • All other duties assigned by the direct manager.

Minimum Qualifications

โ€ข Must own a smartphone, download and use required apps as well as have daily access to a computer with internet.

โ€ข Able to meet the physical demands of the job which includes: standing for prolonged periods, reaching and bending repeatedly, and lifting up to 50 pounds.

โ€ข Willing to work in all weather conditions.

โ€ข Available to work weekends and holidays when required.

โ€ข Must possess strong interpersonal, organizational, time management, problem solving, follow up and leadership skills.

โ€ข Ability to execute store layout and signage guidelines.

โ€ข Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize accordingly.

โ€ข Must be self- motivated, hardworking, energetic, detail oriented and able to work independently.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1-3 years of retail background, garden center operation, customer service and plant care.
  • 6 months of experience performing product merchandising tasks including reading store layouts (planograms and Mods), setting up and tearing down displays.
  • Working knowledge of basic tools needed for the job (e.g., hand tools, hose, pallet jack, etc.)
