Responsibilities:
JOB SUMMARY
The Group Exercise Instructor leads safe, engaging, and effective group exercise classes for members of varying ages and abilities. This role promotes proper technique, provides appropriate instruction and modifications, and supports a positive class experience while ensuring adherence to evidence-based movement guidelines.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Instruction:
    Prepare and lead group exercise classes according to class format.
    Attend trainings and participate in continuing education.
  • Safety:
    Provide safe progressions, modifications, and cues for participants.
    Report equipment issues promptly.
  • Member Experience:
    Build supportive relationships with members to foster community engagement.
    Arrive early, greet class participants, and manage class flow.
  • Operations:
    Maintain studio cleanliness and equipment.

EDUCATION
  • High School Diploma Required

EXPERIENCE
  • 1 year, Instructing group fitness classes OR leading specialty fitness instruction (e.g., Yoga, Pilates, Cycling/Spin, Barre, Aquatics, etc) Required
  • 1 year, Specialty format classes Preferred

LICENSE AND CERTIFICATIONS
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) - Certification, CPR/AED Required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - Certification, Required
  • NCCA-accredited primary Group Exercise certification (ACE, AFAA, NASM, ACSM) OR specialty certification (Yoga, Mat Pilates, Pilates Reformer, Cycling/Spin, Barre, Aquatics, etc.) Required
