Job description

Duties:Under the direction of the Fitness Manager, the Fitness Instructor is responsible for the following:

  • Lead and instruct group exercise classes with energy and enthusiasm.
  • Find a substitute instructor if unable to teach an assigned class.
  • Work with other instructors to sub classes when needed.
  • Attend meetings and functions as needed.
  • Follow all safety procedures that pertain to the duties performed; supporting all aspects of the Park District's safety procedures.
  • Performs all other duties as required.

Experience - Teaching experience and experience in customer service preferred.

Knowledge and Ability -

  • Ability and physical condition to teach group exercise classes.
  • Must hold current group exercise certification, Les Mills certification, and/or Yoga certification.
  • Ability to assist patrons in equipment use while sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, stooping, bending and/or lifting up to 45 pounds.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills with different populations.
  • Ability to be well organized and prepared to teach classes
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Ability to keep a positive attitude with members and staff.
  • Ability to be professional, respectful, accountable, innovative, to follow safety procedures, and be equitable to both internal and external customers.
