Job description

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Senior Vice President & Chief Risk Officer provides strategic leadership on the Executive Management Team by advancing the Association's enterprise risk management program. This role partners with the Board of Directors and executive leadership to strengthen the Association's risk management, support sound business decisions, and foster a proactive, enterprise-wide risk-aware culture.

DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Knowledge of enterprise risk management principles, risk-related policies and procedures, and the ability to promote and sustain a risk-aware culture.
  • Knowledge of corporate finance principles and practices, credit concepts, applicable laws, banking regulations, and agricultural industry and economic principles.
  • Ability to identify key issues, evaluate complex business matters, and make sound business decisions using a systematic, information-based approach.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare and present information and communicate complex topics to a variety of audiences.
  • Ability to gather, organize, analyze, and document information, write concise analytical reports, and prepare and present information for decision-making.
  • Skill in adapting to changing priorities, interacting effectively with others, and exercising sound judgment in a dynamic business environment.
  • Leadership skills with the ability to select, manage, coach, motivate, and develop teams while establishing and maintaining relationships with internal and external organizations and individuals.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Business, Finance, Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in banking, finance, credit, or risk management, including at least six years in a leadership role.
  • Professional risk management certification from an accredited organization is preferred.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
