Job description

About this position

ASH Hotels designs, develops, owns and operates a very special collection of properties. In our world, a hotel is much more than a destination to meet, dine, or sleep. Rather, it is a dynamic site of imagery and emotions, interactions and sensations manifesting within the walls of a beautifully restored local legend - a living movie set. An ASH hotel is a connection to the past and a beacon for the future, layered in nuanced storytelling that invites exploration time and again.

Opening late summer, our jewel box of a hotel stands on the iconic Venice Beach boardwalk, a lively stretch of California culture where a seemingly endless beach meets the dreams and schemes of this great city. Venice, CA was born from a grand vision, the ancient and hauntingly beautiful most serene republic reborn for pleasure on the wild pacific coast, where the spirit of spectacle, entertainment, and countercultural pursuits is as palpable as the salty air.

We’re searching for a Senior Sales Manager. In this role, you'll join the Ash commercial team with real ownership over group revenue at the hotel, from day one. You'll shape how this property shows up in the market; attract clients, builds relationship, and help form what kind of destination we become. It's a rare opportunity for someone who prefers building things rather than maintaining them.

What You'll Do
  • Build the property group sales foundation from the ground up: pipeline, key accounts, and a revenue strategy that works before the doors open.
  • Help establish pre-opening sales infrastructure, account templates, segment strategies, and the groundwork for how this property goes to market.
  • Prospect and develop new business across Corporate, SMERF, Association, Nonprofit, and social segments through outbound calls, meetings, site visits, and tradeshows.
  • Deliver a highly personalized, consultative sales approach, tailoring each proposal to reflect the unique needs and expectations of our clientele.
  • Serve as a brand ambassador, articulating the story, design, and experiential elements of the property in a compelling manner.
  • Take genuine ownership of client relationships; from first introduction through repeat bookings, with a level of care that keeps people coming back.
  • Manage the full group sales cycle: lead generation, proposals, contract negotiation, BEO coordination, and rebooking.
  • Work closely with F&B, Operations, and Revenue Management to make sure every group and event runs well and every guest leaves with something to talk about.
  • Represent the property at industry events, site tours, and client entertainment; with the ease of someone who genuinely believes in what they're selling.
  • Keep clean, current records of all sales activity and client interactions in Tripleseat, Mews, and related systems.
  • Hit revenue goals consistently and contribute to weekly and monthly forecasting with clear, honest reporting.
What We're Looking For EXPERIENCE

3–5 years in hotel group sales; independent or boutique property background a strong plus. Familiarity with the LA/SoCal market is genuinely useful here.

OPENING EXPERIENCE

Time spent on a pre-opening or ramp-up team is a real differentiator. Comfort with ambiguity and a preference for building over maintaining.

CLIENT RELATIONSHIPS

A track record of long-term client relationships that go beyond the transaction. An existing book of business in relevant segments is welcome.

RESULTS ORIENTATION

Consistent performance against revenue targets with the judgment to know when to push and when to listen. Strong negotiation instincts, applied thoughtfully.

COMMUNICATION

Clear, confident communicator in writing and in person — equally effective drafting a proposal or presenting to a new client for the first time.

TECH & SYSTEMS

Comfortable in Tripleseat and Mews is a plus. At ease with CRM platforms and the standard tools of a modern sales operation.

Compensation & Benefits

Base Salary Range: $75,000 - $90,000 | Commensurate with Experience

Bonus Eligible: Performance-based quarterly bonus program up to 20% of your annual salary

Additional benefits include:

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance with generous company contribution
  • Voluntary Long-Term, Short-Term Disability Plans, Life Insurance, Accident and Critical Illness Plans, Pet Insurance
  • 401(k) retirement plan with employer match
  • Annual Paid time off: 10 vacation days, 4 Personal Days
  • California-mandated paid sick leave
  • Ash Hotel discounts
  • F&B perks
Work Environment & Physical Requirements

Primarily property-based, with regular movement throughout the hotel, event spaces, and F&B outlets. Some local and regional travel for tradeshows, client meetings, and industry events. Occasional evenings and weekends to support events and site tours. Ability to sit, stand, walk, and lift up to 25 lbs as needed.
