Job description

Columbus Quarry, LLC located in Fortson, GA is seeking experienced Loader Operators. Family owned business in business for 75 years, with plants in GA and AL, come grow your career with us as we grow the Company!

What you will do:

  • Safely operate loader to move blasted rock, gravel, and sand into haul trucks, bins or processing crushers
  • Safely load raw shot-rock into transport trucks or feed the processing plant
  • Keep the loading zone and stockpiles flat, neat, and clear of falling rocks
  • Perform a pre-shift safety inspection on your machine. This involves checking oil, grease, tires and hydraulics
  • Work safely and follow all Company and Regulatory Agency safety policies and regulations
  • Opportunity to learn how to operate other heavy equipment in the mine
  • Other duties as required

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • One to three years of experience operating heavy mobile equipment in a construction or mining environment
  • Ability to climb in/out of loader minimum 20 times per day, climb to 10 feet to clean loader, walk on uneven ground up to 100 yards
  • Ability to stoop bend, and lift heavy objects up to 50lbs
  • Ability to read delivery tickets
  • Ability to operate hand controls with both hands and foot controls with both feet
  • Ability to tolerate working outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Ability to use hand tools
  • Ability to work alone or as part of a team
  • Clear verbal skills to use radio to talk with truck drivers and plant operators
