Grossing Techs, short for Grossing Technicians, are specialized laboratory professionals who prepare tissue specimens for examination by pathologists. Their main responsibility is to accurately describe, measure, and section tissue samples, a process known as 'grossing,' which is crucial for diagnosing diseases such as cancer. They ensure that samples are processed efficiently and according to strict protocols to maintain specimen integrity. Grossing Techs often work in hospital pathology labs, reference labs, or medical examiner’s offices, and they play a vital role in the early stages of disease diagnosis.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a grossing tech?
