Job description

We are seeking an energetic, quality-focused Produce Clerk to join our team at Price Chopper. In this role, you'll take ownership of keeping the produce department fresh, full, and inviting-helping guests easily shop for fruits and vegetables while sharing your knowledge to enhance their overall experience.

Key Responsibilities & Job Duties
  • Provide friendly, helpful, and respectful guest service at all times to ensure a positive shopping experience and encourage repeat visits
  • Stock, rotate, and face produce to maintain freshness, minimize waste, and ensure an appealing presentation
  • Build and maintain full, attractive displays that highlight product quality and promote sales
  • Inspect products for freshness and remove damaged or spoiled items to uphold quality standards
  • Assist guests with product selection, answering questions about varieties, ripeness, and handling
  • Cut, prepare, and package fresh produce items following food safety and merchandising standards
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of produce items, including seasonality, pricing, and location
  • Ensure accurate signage, labeling, and pricing
  • Monitor inventory levels and report low, excess, or damaged items to support product availability and reduce shrink
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, including prep areas and sales floor
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and personal hygiene standards
  • Operate scales, scanners, and related equipment accurately
  • Communicate clearly and respectfully with teammates and leadership to support efficient department operations
  • Collaborate across departments to support storewide efficiency and guest hospitality goals
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures, including attendance, conduct, and dress code standards
  • Support loss prevention efforts by staying alert and following proper procedures
  • Participate in required trainings and continuous learning opportunities
  • Remain productive during slower periods by culling, trimming, cleaning, or restocking
  • Other job duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
  • Required: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience
  • Required: Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Preferred: Experience in grocery, retail, food service, or produce environments
