Description:

Keweenaw Co-op full time and part time grocery stockers play a crucial role in keeping the store well-organized, stocked, and inviting for customers. Their primary purpose is to ensure shelves, coolers, and displays are fully stocked and rotated, maintaining a clean and orderly shopping environment. They also provide friendly service, assist guests with product questions and help them find items. Beyond stocking, they help with receiving deliveries, check inventory for accuracy, and ensure products meet quality standards. Some positions light maintenance is also involved, such as keeping aisles tidy, and removing expired items.


Pay

  • Starts at $14.50/hour

Essential Responsibilities and Functions

CUSTOMER SERVICE

  1. Provides outstanding and advanced internal and external service.
  2. Fulfills daily cleaning tasks, cleanup/upkeep of personal areas, and periodic cleaning.
  3. Works with special orders for the department.
  4. Upholds and models Customer Service Pledge.
  5. Offers samples, suggestions and product information to customers.
  6. Maintains familiarity with all areas of the store in order to best assist customers.
  7. Responds to requests from customers to research product availability, price and quality issues.

PURCHASING & PRICING

  1. Works with Retail Manager and Coordinators to receive orders and alerts them in situations where a credit is needed.
  2. Pulls product and installs signage according to departmental plans.
  3. Ensures that unsellable items are recorded and returned or disposed of following established procedures.
  4. Communicates needs of Owners and customers to Coordinators and Managers.
  5. Maintains accurate pricing for profitability and price image. Communicates price discrepancies in the point of sale system.
  6. Completes periodic inventory counts.

MERCHANDISING & PROMOTIONS

  1. Helps stock area floor plan and strategically utilizes end-caps and display areas as directed.
  2. Maintains attractive displays and accurate shelf/bin tags and sale signs.
  3. Assists Coordinators and Manager to ensure accurate, up-to-date product signage.
  4. Provides product information to customers and staff.

DEPARTMENT OPERATIONS

  1. Works with all levels of Co-op staff in a manner that supports department financial performance.
  2. Completes cleaning schedule, departmental checklists, etc..
  3. Takes training as designed for the position.
  4. Keeps accurate records as directed.
  5. Ensures that department areas are in clean, orderly condition meeting Health Department and customer service standards.
  6. Communicates equipment needs to department Coordinators and Manager.

OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT

  1. Attends meetings as assigned.
  2. Accountable for departmental and store-wide communication practices.
  3. Utilizes team and departmental information on shared team drives.
  4. Recommends changes in, or better utilization of resources.
  5. Adheres to the Staff Code of Conduct.
  6. Supports decisions made by the Management Team.
  7. Strives for continuous improvement.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Able to work at least one weekend day/week, early morning, late evening, or overnight shifts as needed.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree from a two- or four-year college or university or equivalent related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Training or leadership experience related to grocery or retail environments or cooperatives.

PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to use computer keyboard, mouse, telephone, and office equipment continuously.
  • Ability to lift and carry between 20 and 50 pounds frequently.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk for long periods of time.
