Job Title: Grinder Operator

Job Description

The Grinder Operator sets up, operates, and maintains grinding and milling machines to produce high-quality parts to specification. This role involves loading and unloading components, inspecting finished parts, preparing and changing grinding wheels, and performing minor maintenance and preventive care on equipment. The Grinder Operator works within a machine cell, running multiple machines while ensuring consistent accuracy, safety, and efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Perform required operations on grinding and milling machines, including accurate loading and unloading of parts.
  • Inspect parts using appropriate measuring tools to ensure they meet specifications and quality standards.
  • Prepare and change grinding wheels as needed, following proper safety and setup procedures.
  • Operate grinders, micrometers, gauges, calipers, and various power tools with a high level of precision.
  • Use computer interfaces and controls associated with machine operation and part inspection.
  • Clean assigned equipment regularly and perform preventive maintenance to maintain optimal machine performance.
  • Carry out minor maintenance and adjustments on machines to ensure consistent operation.
  • Run and maintain the function of two or more machines in a cell, monitoring performance and output.
  • Work in a machine shop environment with a focus on surface grinding and conventional machining operations.
  • Follow all safety guidelines and standard operating procedures while handling tools, equipment, and materials.

Essential Skills

  • 1–5 years of experience in conventional machining such as grinding, milling, drilling, and turning.
