Job description

GZA GeoEnvironmental, Inc. (GZA) is currently seeking a Climate Change & Sustainability Analyst to help grow our established Sustainability Practice. The ideal candidate for this position is an experienced sustainability consulting professional with the motivation and desire to foster technical excellence and strong client relationships. As a Climate Change & Sustainability Analyst, you will work with a fast-paced team of interrelated professionals dedicated to providing high-level expertise on complex projects with large corporations across various industries, as well as public projects working with communities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Calculate Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions and develop emissions inventories and management plans for clients across a broad array of sectors.
  • Analyze Scope 3 emissions categories, conduct value-chain emissions assessments, support supplier engagement programs, and evaluate data quality improvement opportunities.
  • Support development of greenhouse gas reduction strategies, net-zero roadmaps, science-based targets, and climate transition plans for corporate clients and municipalities.
  • Support climate and sustainability disclosures, reporting, and regulatory compliance initiatives pursuant to leading (CDP, GHG Protocol, CSRD, SBTi etc.).
  • Collect, manage, analyze, and validate environmental and sustainability data.
  • Evaluate supply chain risks and opportunities related to climate change, water management and biodiversity.
  • Create strategies to engage, educate, and improve supplier sustainability performance.
  • Effectively compile and organize environmental data using databases, spreadsheets, or other software. This will include the use of internal Artificial Intelligence tools.

Other Responsibilities

  • Provide subject matter expertise to clientele on greenhouse gas, climate change, and other environmental sustainability practices or requirements.
  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, and client deliverables.
  • Support client communications, project management, and business development
  • Research emerging sustainability regulations, frameworks, and industry trends.
  • Create, implement, and monitor corporate responsibility and environmental sustainability strategies.

  • Education and Sustainability Experience
    • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in an environmental science, engineering or sustainability-related field, including at least 2 years of professional experience in the corporate sustainability field.
    • Professional experience in corporate greenhouse gas accounting and climate change reporting and disclosure.
    • Understanding of key sustainability issues and trends in business and management practice, especially in the field of climate change and greenhouse gas emissions evaluation, reporting, and target-setting.
    • Experience with completing environmental footprints and LCA models is a plus.
  • Data Analysis Skills
  • Experience with Power BI, Tableau, SQL, Python, R, or similar analytical tools is a plus. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
  • Superb attention to detail and dedication to thorough quality reviews and to seeking continuous improvement opportunities in work products.
  • Consulting Skills
    • Ability to work independently and to perform technical execution of projects under the supervision of project managers.
    • Strong communication skills in team- and client-facing settings.
    • Excellence and experience in presenting information in oral and written forms to clients and other stakeholder groups.
  • Availability to work Monday through Friday and some evenings and weekends. Overnight travel is possible.
  • A valid driver’s license in good standing and ability to travel on occasion.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.
