Job Title: Tool Shop Apprentice

Shift: 1st
Department/Group: Tool Shop

Hours: 6:30AM-3:00PM
Location: Kulpsville, PA

Position Type: KV Union

Job Family/Grade: 3-13

Reports to: Supervisor

Essential duties and responsibilities
  • Acquire and demonstrate skills needed to advance through the apprenticeship curriculum as described in the apprenticeship agreement
  • Complete and pass required online courses within the required timeline.
    • Time will be given during the work week however, much of the coursework will be completed outside of working hours.
  • On the job training provided for required skills needed to progress through the curriculum. Skills must be demonstrated within the required timeline.
  • Perform tasks within the tool shop as by the tooling supervisor.
  • No guarantee on shift assignment upon completion of program.
other responsibilities
  • Perform maintenance and 5S functions, including but not limited too:
    • Keep fluids (coolants, oil, etc) of equipment at recommended levels
    • Ensure tools are properly cleaned
    • Participate on teams
    • Clean equipment
    • General housekeeping in the department
  • Notify supervisor of any problems which occur in the manufacture of molds, dies, and fixtures, along with cutting tools and gauges.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
  • High School degree or equivalent.
  • Machine shop experience or technical school training preferred.

Must sign apprenticeship agreement

Physical requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. without the use of mechanical lifting devices or assistance from others
  • Ability to work long periods of time in standing position.
  • Perform job in compliance with Company's Quality Policy (ISO 9000).
  • Perform job in a safe manner.

Ability to wear personal protective equipment such as safety glasses and safety shoes.

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • This position requires U.S. Person status as defined by applicable law for authorized access to data controlled under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). A U.S. Person includes U.S. Citizens, U.S. Nationals, lawful permanent residents, and workers granted refugee or asylum status in the United States.
