Job description

Electric Vehicle Outreach Co-Op Position

Green Energy Consumers Alliance is a non-profit organization that enables people to make green energy choices in the most cost-effective, practical, and seamless ways possible, and to advocate for energy policies that benefit the greater good. We operate in Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

One of our focus areas is the transportation sector, which accounts for the largest portion of greenhouse gas emissions in both our states. We address this sector through Drive Green, our educational program about electric vehicles (EVs). This year, we have several projects targeting specific audiences to provide educational resources and support to drivers looking to make the switch. We are looking for a co-op student who's interested in clean energy to help us build partnerships, organize and host events, and provide other support.

Responsibilities
  • Stay up-to-date on the EV market, technology developments, and incentives;
  • Reach out to community stakeholders across Massachusetts by phone and email to help build new and existing partnerships;
  • Help plan community EV events such as workshops, tabling events, static EV showcases, and ride & drives;
  • Attend events across Massachusetts and Rhode Island and share accurate and complete information about EVs with attendees, including information about vehicle models, charging, and incentives;
  • Help with marketing events and programs, including distributing social media content to partners and occasional travel (mileage reimbursed) to put up fliers in target communities;
  • Reach out directly to fleet stakeholders to share information about EVs in general and incentive programs specifically;
  • Research, data entry, and other projects as needed.
Qualifications
  • Clear interest in and/or experience with clean energy, climate mitigation, and/or transportation, particularly EVs;
  • Clear interest in and/or experience with community outreach and events planning/attendance;
  • An understanding and familiarity with Massachusetts and Rhode Island communities;
  • Strong written and verbal communication, organization, and attention to detail;
  • Ability to manage different workstreams and timelines;
  • Curiosity, openness, and eagerness to learn;
  • A valid driver's license;
  • Desired: Fluency in Spanish, Portuguese, Haitian Creole, or Mandarin.
Compensation & Benefits

This six-month, 37.5 hr/week co-op position will be conducted in a hybrid fashion, working both remotely and at least one day a week from our office in Cambridge, MA office. The position will start on or after July 1, 2026, and end by December 31, 2026. The position entails occasional nights and weekends for events attendance. The pay is $23.00/hr.

Co-op students receive the following benefits: Co-ops will accrue 12.5 hours of vacation time per month worked, as well as 1 hour of sick time per every 30 hours worked. We also provide a laptop for the duration of the internship.
