  • Coaches are expected to be outstanding citizens/mentors who provide leadership as role models for students
  • All newly hired coaches must obtain certification through the National Federation of Interscholastic Coaches Education Program or the American Sport Education Program within one year of being cleared/approved as a coach for Chesapeake Public Schools
  • Child Abuse and Neglect Recognition and Intervention Training (http://www.doe.virginia/teaching/licensure/child_abuse_training.shtml)
  • Negative TB test or screening result (completed within the last 12 months)
  • Required to attend annual concussion training course through Chesapeake Public Schools
  • Relevant coaching experience, knowledge of the sport and the ability to support student development
