JOB SUMMARY:
The Press Operator is responsible for the safe operation of the press while meeting the standards in quality and productivity. The Press Operator examines job orders to determine quantity, stock specifications, colors and special printing instructions. Press Operator loads and unloads paper rolls, check pH and viscosity and complete all necessary paperwork. The Press Operator will also perform housekeeping, pre-press and maintenance related duties. The Press Operator may be required to perform other necessary tasks throughout the plant including cleaning, general housekeeping duties, painting, sorting, cup-by-cup, lid-by-lid or tasks of a clerical nature
All employees must follow all Graphic Packaging International work rules, code of conduct and safety procedures and policies including wearing personal protective equipment such as steel toed shoes, hearing protection and safety goggles.
WORK DEVICES/TOOLS: computer, label printer, standard hand tools (Allen wrench, plyers, etc...), cutting knife, cutting gloves. paper, pen, clipboard
EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED:
  • 2+ yrs previous experience working in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Must be able to stand on concrete flooring for long periods of time with scheduled breaks
  • Prior experience utilizing pallet jack -highly preferred
  • Must be able to walk around machine/equipment frequently; surfaces are mostly concrete
  • Must be able lift/carry weight approximately 35 lbs; the average distance carried is approximately 15 feet. Lifts and dollies are available for transporting rolls of paper.
  • Must be able to climb a flight of metal steps leading up to a platform at the top of the machine. This is performed occasionally throughout the shift. This may vary depending on the need to change the anilox rolls.
  • Must be able to perform a forward bend momentarily up to 90 degrees. Much of the bending performed, however, is slight forward bending for brief periods.
  • Must be able to kneel to perform repairs/cleaning/housekeeping tasks.
  • Must have the ability to work in a high paced and multi-task environment
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
  • Overtime will be required as necessary including weekends. Graphic Packaging International operates on a 24 hour, 7 day/week basis
