Job description

Content & Communications Coordinator

No two days are the same. One day you might be designing graphics for a national barbeque championship, and the next you could be creating a social media campaign, photographing an event, or helping produce our monthly digital publication.

The Kansas City Barbeque Society (KCBS) is looking for a creative Content & Communications Coordinator to help tell our story through social media, photography, video, email marketing, our website, and our monthly digital publication.

This is an excellent opportunity to build your portfolio, own real projects, and gain hands-on experience with an international nonprofit organization.

What You'll Do

  • Design graphics and marketing materials in Canva.
  • Create content for social media, email marketing, the KCBS website, and our digital publication.
  • Capture photos and short videos at KCBS events.
  • Use AI tools to assist with writing, research, and content creation.
  • Help support KCBS members by phone, email, and in person.
  • Collaborate with the KCBS team on a variety of communications and marketing projects.

What We're Looking For

  • Strong writing and communication skills.
  • Experience creating graphics in Canva.
  • Familiarity with today's social media platforms.
  • Comfortable using AI tools.
  • Organized, dependable, and eager to learn.
  • Excellent customer service skills.

The Details

  • Full-time, in-office position in Kansas City, Missouri.
  • Monday through Friday during regular business hours.
  • Only a few weekends each year to support KCBS events.
  • Salary: $36,000-$40,000, depending on qualifications.
