Description of Primary Duties
The graphic designer will use computer software (mainly Adobe Creative Cloud applications) to create print and digital art for The Standard's advertising clients. Usually, the client will provide specifications to The Standard, and the graphic designer will create an ad to fit the client's needs or will modify existing ad materials. The graphic designer will also create house ads and other marketing materials for The Standard's own use. The graphic designer will work with The Standard's editors to assist, as needed, with editorial graphics, illustrations and special section covers. NOTE: The advertising designer will need to be available at the beginning of the fall 2026 semester.
Required Qualifications
Ability to use Adobe Creative Cloud applications is required. Strong graphic design skills and the ability to adapt personal creativity to suit the clients' needs are required. Although most client interaction will be handled by the advertising sales assistant, the graphic designer may need to communicate directly (usually by email, phone or videoconference) with the clients at times. Strong interpersonal communication skills (written and verbal) are required.
