Job Description

The position of Graphic Design Intern will be responsible for supporting the Communications Specialist with the strategic development and implementation of design and branding efforts. The Graphic Design Intern is to focus on the enhancement of organizational reputation to external audiences through media design. The position will work on the preparation and release of graphic materials.

Description of Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Create designs, concepts, and sample layouts based on knowledge of layout principles and esthetic design concepts.

  • Determine size and arrangement of illustrative material and copy, and select style and size of type.

  • Discuss and determine layout design.

  • Develop graphics and layouts for product illustrations, company logos, and Internet websites.

  • Review final layouts and suggest improvements as needed.

  • Prepare illustrations or rough sketches of material, discussing them with clients or supervisors and making necessary changes.

  • Use computer software to generate new images.

  • Key information into computer equipment to create layouts for client or supervisor.

  • Maintain archive of images, photos, or previous work products.

  • Prepare notes and instructions for workers who assemble and prepare final layouts for printing.

  • Develop innovative marketing design solutions for marketing materials associated with advertisements, flyers, power points, media kits, promotional materials, online advertising, and social media.

  • Keep up to date on the most effective ways to market non-profits.

Qualifications
  • Minimum of 1-2 years experience in field of Graphic Design/Digital Design.
  • Strong experience with computer skills related to graphic design such as Windows NT, Adobe illustrator, Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and/or other applicable software.
