Job description

Lead Graphic Designer (Graphic Artist 3) - 29431 Position Summary

Lead Graphic Artist to support visual communications for HII Mission Technologies in Huntsville, AL. Responsibilities include multimedia, graphic design, and web development support across the project office, acting as the main point of contact for visual products such as event graphics, organization charts, photography, and SharePoint site layouts.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure timely creation and delivery of visual materials, including quarterly awards, birthday cards, custom retirement/farewell frames.
  • Coordinate with project teams and operations to execute daily tasks, including professional event photography, SharePoint page design, and updating new employee profiles.
  • Provide guidance to managers on visual layout, branding updates, and SharePoint functionality to improve communication.
  • Manage daily operations of the print lab, operating printers and plotters for seating charts, calendars, event banners.
  • Handle troubleshooting and coordinate with IT help desks and vendors to keep equipment running.
  • Conceive, design, lay out, and coordinate editorial illustrations and creative artwork.
  • Develop interpretive themes and graphic presentations that convey mood, emphasis, insight.
  • Provide guidance on graphic technology.
  • Work closely with customer contacts to understand requirements and create designs.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 6 years relevant experience with Bachelor’s degree; 4 years relevant experience with Master’s degree; or high school diploma and 10 years relevant experience.
  • Preferred: 9 years relevant experience with Bachelor’s degree; or high school diploma and 13 years relevant experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design or related art and design fields.
  • Must have ability to obtain and maintain a Secret level clearance with the US DoW.
  • Hands‑on experience in digital photography, print production, file management, and basic database administration.
  • Advanced skills in SharePoint site design, graphic layout, and Microsoft Office products (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, OneNote, Teams, Forms).
Preferred Requirements
  • 9 years relevant experience with Bachelor’s degree; 7 years relevant experience with Master’s degree; or high school diploma and 13 years relevant experience.
  • Secret clearance with the US DoW.
  • Experience working with Fed Government, DoW customers or contractors.
Physical Requirements
  • Minor lifting and carrying of boxes of records or equipment.
