The PreK Managers position will support the diverse needs of APS preschool programs with the implementation of New Mexico's FOCUS: Essential Elements of Quality for all New Mexico Public School Preschool Programs to maintain and create standards of quality across all APS preschool programs. In addition, this positon will support the district in addressing necessary program elements for the continuation of program expansion and Sustainability in meeting the needs of all APS preschool children in quality programs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Incumbent must achieve the following outcomes with or without reasonable accommodation:
- Ensure program compliance based on New Mexico FOCUS: Essential Elements of Quality for all New Mexico Public School Preschool Programs
- Assist in the development and training of monitoring tools to support program self-assessment to meet FOCUS criteria
- Adhere to the overarching goals of NM PreK to: I. Increase access to voluntary quality PreK programs; II. Focus on school readiness; and III, Provide developmentally appropriate activities for children participation in PreK Programs.
- Ensure that all PreK staff in school-based programs have met NM PreK mandatory professional development and training Requirements through ongoing participation in Train-of-Trainers model and providing preschool staff trainings
- Ensure that program services and training meet NM PreK Program Standards.
- Ensures effective strategic planning, continuous improvement, budgeting and outcome evaluation, research based, of Early Childhood programs and training of teachers.
- Articulates and facilitates the implementation of the mission and goals of the Albuquerque Public Schools
- Collaborates with others to develop and implement NM PreK Program requirements.
- Presentation and adult training skills.
- Ensure the use of the New Mexico Early Learning Guidelines: Birth through Kindergarten: revised January 2019 edition.
- Provide direct support with school administrators to ensure New Mexico Focus: Essential Elements of Quality for all New Mexico Public School Preschool Programs
- Collaborate with various early childhood stakeholders to support program alignment and services.
- Prepares and maintains accurate and complete Records for submission to NM PED and/or APS or other State Departments Schedule meetings and attend committees that align to scope of work.
- Overseeing the ordering of supplies/material, assets, textbooks through the site approval process in Lawson using NM PreK Grant and Title 1 Grant funds.
- Guides school administration in meeting audit requirements when using Grant funds
- Oversees and shares in the responsibility for the evaluations of PreK Resource Teachers and Early Childhood Support Staff
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE:
REQUIREMENTS:
- Master's degree with five years' experience in the field of early childhood
- Level Three-B Pre K -12 Administrative License
- Valid New Mexico driver's license with insurable driving record.
- Ability to meet deadlines, work on multiple projects and coordinate the work of others.
- Proficient with word processing, database and spreadsheet software
- Ability to write reports and grant applications
- Ability to plan, organize and train required preschool professional development aligned to NM PreK requirements
- Ability to mediate when needed
- Flexibility, organization, decision-making and problem solving skills
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
- Knowledge of and ability to communicate early childhood licensing requirements for general and special education program models
- Interpersonal skills with diverse populations in person and on the telephone.
