Job Title
Director - Continuing Education and Outreach (Focus Area in Grand Island)
Nature of Work
Provides administrative oversight, conducts analytical analysis in the development, implementation, and on-going administration of specialized continuing education and outreach programs. Responsible for overseeing the budget, communication, and instruction for these specialized academic programs. Act as a liaison to the stakeholders in these programs.
Examples of Work Performed
Continuing Education & Outreach
- Develop and administer specialized continuing education, professional development, and outreach programs for adult learners, working professionals, and community organizations in the Grand Island area.
- Support the creation of innovative, sustainable academic programs - online, face-to-face, hybrid, and blended - that reflect Wayne State College's vision and regional needs.
- Build program awareness in the Grand Island area through impactful marketing strategies developed in coordination with Enrollment Management and College Relations.
High School Recruitment
- In collaboration with Admissions leadership, develop and execute a comprehensive high school recruitment strategy for the assigned Grand Island territory, with Grand Island Public Schools as a primary partner.
- Represent Wayne State College to prospective students and their families through high school events, college fairs, and community venues.
- Coordinate and facilitate recruitment events across the region, including loading and transporting admissions materials, displays, and equipment.
- Conduct regular outreach to prospective high school students to encourage campus visits and applications for admission.
- Assist students individually and in groups through the admissions application process.
- Assist with new summer student registration programs.
- Report regular progress against enrollment goals for the assigned recruitment area.
- Some evening and weekend hours are required, particularly during peak recruitment periods.
Dual Credit
- Serve as the primary point of contact for dual credit partnerships with Grand Island Public Schools, area high schools, and secondary educators.
- Coordinate course approval processes, instructor credentialing, and student enrollment for dual credit offerings in the Grand Island region.
- Work collaboratively with WSC academic departments to expand and sustain dual credit course options aligned with Grand Island student and employer needs.
- Track and report dual credit enrollment data, student outcomes, and program effectiveness to inform strategic planning.
- Cultivate relationships with Grand Island Public Schools counselors, principals, and administrators to promote dual credit opportunities and expand institutional reach.
Transfer Recruitment
- In collaboration with Admissions leadership, develop and implement a targeted transfer recruitment strategy for the Grand Island region.
- Build and maintain a strong partnership with Central Community College - Grand Island to ensure smooth and effective transfer pathways and articulation of services.
- Advise prospective transfer students from Central Community College - Grand Island on admission requirements, credit evaluation, academic programs, and financial aid processes.
- Coordinate transfer-specific recruitment events, information sessions, and campus visit programming in partnership with Central Community College-GI.
- Partner with Central Community College - Grand Island advisors and faculty to facilitate coordinated advising and seamless student transitions.
Community & Industry
- Develop and sustain partnerships with external stakeholders across business, industry, education, government, veterans' organizations, and nonprofit entities throughout the Grand Island region.
- Support recruitment efforts and enrollment initiatives focused on the Grand Island region in alignment with institutional goals.
- Represent WSC at community, civic, and industry events in Grand Island and surrounding areas to build brand awareness and institutional goodwill.
Additional Responsibilities
- Periodic travel to surrounding areas and the main campus in Wayne, NE required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree and related experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Higher Education, Business, Communications, or a related discipline.
- 3-5 years of professional experience in higher education admissions, outreach, continuing education, workforce development, or community relations.
- Demonstrated ability to think critically, act independently, and proactively solve problems
- Experience working with community colleges and facilitating transfer articulation agreements.
- Thorough knowledge of and experience working with diverse student populations, including first-generation, rural, and adult learners.
- Strong cross-cultural interpersonal and written communication skills, including comfort with public speaking and presentations to diverse audiences.
- Spanish language proficiency preferred.
- Core competency in marketing, strategy development, and stakeholder outreach.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize, work independently, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with schools, community organizations, businesses, and regional constituents.
