About the Job
 

Position Summary: We are seeking a motivated and productive post-doctoral associate/research scientist with extensive experience in cell biology, molecular biology, and tissue engineering to join our team. In this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute to broad research projects focused on cardiovascular disease modeling and cardiac regeneration using human induced pluripotent stem cells derived cardiac cell types and associated engineered tissues.

As a team member, you will be responsible for conducting experiments and collecting data. You will contribute to the preparation of research manuscripts for publication and grant submissions. In addition to your research responsibilities, you will play an important role in supervising junior trainees. This is a one-year position with the possibility of extensions thereafter. Visa sponsorship and/or relocation assistance is not available for this position. 


Duties/Responsibilities:
80% Experimental Research:

  • Development, design, and  implementation of experiments to study hypertrophic cardiomyopathies in monolayer culture and engineered tissues, Gene editing, CRISPR/Cas9 expertise.
  • Analysis of data and determination of next steps.
  • Review relevant literature.

10% Scientific Writing and Presentations:

  • Develop and write journal articles including primary research and review articles for peer-reviewed publication.
  • Participation in laboratory meetings.
  • Possible presentation at local and national meetings.

10 % Lab supervision and Other duties as assigned:

  • Provide day-to-day supervision of trainees.
  • Be a resource for laboratory personnel and trainees for troubleshooting.
  • Contribute to lab maintenance and supply ordering.
     
Qualifications
 

Required Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in biomedical fields or related area including stem cell biology, molecular biology, genomics, biomedical engineering, biochemistry.
  • Experience of successfully contributing to writing papers and grants.
  • Excellent communication skills written and verbal.
  • Successful candidates will work collaboratively with junior trainees.
  • Experience with Gene-Editing, CRISPR/Cas9 tools.
     

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Stem Cell Culture, Cardiomyocytes culture, and Cardiac Cell Differentiation.
  • Experience with generating knockin/knockout hiPSC lines.

Pay Range: $63,480 - $77,076; depending on education/qualifications/experience
