Position Highlights
The Department of Psychiatry at the University of Arizona College of Medicine - Phoenix seeks to recruit faculty specializing in research on the etiology and/or treatment of psychiatric disorders. Reporting directly to the Chair, the preferred candidate will have an established research program specializing in fields such as genomics, transcriptomics, neuroimaging, animal models, pharmacology, or related fields as applied toillnesses such as schizophrenia, mood and anxiety disorders, and substance dependence.
Applicants must possess a PhD and/or MD (or equivalent) and postdoctoral training in the proposed field of study. Candidates must have prior experience supervising research projects, obtaining and maintaining research budgets, procurement of research equipment and supplies as well as devising and successfully implementing research policies of the organization. A strong track record of publishing peer-reviewed manuscripts and research grant applications is required. The candidate will be required to submit intramural and extramural research grant proposals in the area of their proposed research program. Finally, the candidate will be expected to participate in the educational, training, and service missions of the Department and College.
The successful candidate will fulfill the responsibilities of a faculty member in the Department of Psychiatry, actively participate in teaching, clinical service and/or scholarly work, and must qualify for an appointment at the rank of assistant, associate, or full professor.
The successful candidate will meet the requirements of either a career track or tenure track faculty according to the College and University guidelines.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain a federally funded and internationally competitive research program in causes and treatments of psychiatric disorders.
  • Publish research findings in leading journals.
  • Develop collaborations with pertinent faculty within the college and partner institutions.
  • Contribute to the teaching and service missions of the college.
  • Engage in external academic and professional activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Must possess a PhD and/or MD or equivalent degree from an accredited institution.
  • Must have post-doctoral training in respective area of research and experience commensurate with appointment at the rank of assistant professor or above.
  • Be eligible for a University of Arizona academic appointment at the assistant professor level or higher.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated scholarly accomplishment in research.
  • Demonstrated experience as principal investigator and evidence of active extramural funding.
  • Outstanding record of research accomplishments.
  • Demonstrated experience in submitting grant proposals and supervising research staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively.
  • Teaching experience with medical and/or graduate students.
